Picture of the Week #391 "Meditative Masai" Masai Mara, Kenya 1997

We encountered the Masai tribe on our honeymoon safari in Kenya. This tired looking warrior allowed me to take his picture without asking for money or even reacting to my camera. He just stared at my lens. He was sitting with a group of other Masai, but his expression is what drew me in to take his picture. It was like he was off somewhere else. I'm not sure if he was just checking me out and wondering "oh here's another tourist with a camera" or was he meditating on his plight in life.
